Resort and Travel Photography by Jon Schwartz

I do a lot of resort and travel photography in addition to above and below water sport fishing photography. Here are some examples :

I enjoy the challenges of low-light, natural light, and interior photography. It's much more technical than shooting with a lot of available light but the results can be really satisfying. When I publish my new website I will have a section where I share what I have learned about these interesting techniques and field questions.

Surf photography is something I absolutely love. I did a shoot with the world champion tandem surfing team in Oahu.

Below is a shot I took during the 50th Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament; a rare shot of a jumping marlin taken from a helicopter; how's that for luck!

Below are two "daddy-daughter" cover shots I took. The cover in Bluewater Boats features the father releasing a sailfish, and the cover in Saltwater Sportsman features the daughter, releasing a bigger fish! Both shots were taken at Casa Vieja Lodge in Guatemala.

The below shot is an iconic shot I took that ended up in a coffee table book out out by the famous Rybovich Boat Company.

In addition to the above and below the water fishing photography I've done with magazines like Sportfishing, Marlin, Bluewater Boats, Field and Stream, Pacific Coast Sportfishing, Western Outdoors News Magazine, Destination Fish, and The Billfish Foundation Magazine,  I have appeared on Nat Geo TV. I have a line of calendars though Willow Creek Press, my images and stories have been featured twice on Yahoo home page, in Guy Harvey's Book Panama Paradise, and the cover of the Journal of Molluscan Studies published by Oxford University Press. I also do SEO work and social media consulting with regional and national travel bureaus.
This is in addition to my "real" job; I teach elementary school and enjoy teaching kids how to blog, edit video, and use Photoshop. I recently received the 2011 "Tech Hero of the Year" Award by the Technology Training Foundation of America and have written articles on the using technology to enhance student achievement for many educational websites. You can see more information at my educational website Kids Like Blogs.org.

Thanks,
Jon Schwartz
