Camp Pendleton Marine Staff Sergeant Nick Mota, his wife Amber, son Gabe (7) and daughter Sara (11) are returning today July 1st after a five day all-expenses paid vacation in Cabo, given to them as a gesture of thanks by the resort they stayed at for their military service.
The family stayed courtesy of The Villa Group at the Villa Del Palmar Beach Resort and Spa, and enjoyed many exciting activities including deep sea fishing, relaxing by the pool, nightly entertainment such as traditional Mexican ballet Folklorico, and jaunts into town. Dad caught a huge striped marlin which they released in good health, and Gabe and Mom each caught exotic Roosterfish (released) and Sierra, which they had prepared 4 different ways at a popular local restaurant.
The family stayed in a suite and had a marvelous view of the famous "Los Arcos" (The Arches), which are located at the very tip of the Baja Peninsula- Land's End. Jonathan Schwartz, Gabe's teacher at Santa Margarita Elementary School in the Oceanside Unified School District on Camp Pendleton, was able to arrange the trip with some good luck after telling his friends at The Villa Group about how deserving the family was of some gratitude and time to reunify after Dad's recent long deployment. Hats off to the Villa Group for stepping up the plate and doing something concrete and significant, in a grass roots fashion, to help the military.
Thanks also to Alaska Airlines, which helped with the airfare for the travelers, and Pisces Sport Fishing Fleet in Cabo San Lucas, for helping the family catch the fish of a lifetime!
Professional quality images and video of the trip were taken throughout the Mota's stay and are available by contacting Jonathan Schwartz at www.bluewaterjon.com, or bluewaterjon@yahoo.com.
